With less than three weeks to go until Australasia’s weight for age championship, the $3m Tatts Cox Plate, excitement is building for the social event of the Spring Racing Carnival – the New Zealand Bred Advantage and 2040club Cox Plate Lunch.

Rated by us as the biggest and best lunch of the spring carnival, this dazzling affair celebrating Australia’s greatest race will be held on Friday October 21.

From its humbling beginnings as a small gathering of 80 enthusiasts four years ago, the lunch has grown into a spectacular occasion with 800 people expected to attend – and you can find out why!

Melbourne’s voice of racing, Radio Sport National’s Shane Anderson, will lead an all star panel in analysing the Cox Plate.

Joining him on the panel are bohemiath bookmaker Tom Waterhouse, glamour girl Francesca Cumani and Cox Plate-winning jockey Mal Johnston.

“Miracle Mal” – as Kingston Town’s regular rider is better known – will bring you all the action from the Breakfast With The Stars trackwork session…and who knows, we might have some surprises in store for this regular larrikin this year!

Last year’s winning jockey, aboard the champion So You Think, was Steven Arnold.

Along with fellow hoop and part time comedian Chris Symons, Arnold will give punters the lowdown on how to ride a Cox Plate winner as they embark on a simulation of the great race.

This year marks 25 years since the greatest Cox Plate of them all – the spine tingling dual between the Kiwis Bonecrusher and Our Waverley Star.

Their jockeys, Gary Stewart (Bonecrusher) and Lance O’Sullivan (Our Waverley Star), will recall their rides in that incredible renewal of the Cox Plate as we pay tribute to what has been dubbed the “race of the century”.

The 2040club will also be launching a new individual membership offer. Aimed at anyone serious about racing and wanting to get involved in the sport of kings at a never seen before level, the membership provides special offers and money can’t buy experiences provided by the 2040club and its’ 23 preferred partners.

And it’s all for a great cause, with money raised through the membership going to charities like the National Jockeys Trust, supporting the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every time they race, and Redkite, who help children, young people and their families in dealing with cancer.

So don’t miss your chance to be at what promises to be the social event of this year’s spring carnival – the New Zealand Bred Advantage and 2040club Cox Plate Lunch!
